What are Iron Fens? A unique geologic phenomenon, formed when mineral rich groundwater bubbles up from mountain springs and forms colorful ledges and terraces. Join for dispersed camping, mild 4-wheeling, and short hikes to see some of the more uncommon areas of Colorado.

Weekend dispersed camping trip to Geneva Creek area south of of Georgetown.

Will set up base camp along forest service road 118 (some maps marked 1038), off of the Guanella Pass road. Saturday we will drive further op the creek as far as we can go and hike the rest of the way to the Iron Fens geologic phenomenon. There is also mining remains and what is left of the Geneva townsite in the area.
